"California's rolling blackouts have the potential of putting on the economic brakes of the 'World's Sixth Largest Economy'. According to the Legislative Analyst's Office of the State of California December 2000 report on 'California's Economy and Budget in Perspective'... And, if we can no longer see light at the end of the tunnel, but 'hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified' (Luke 21:9). This is only evidence that our LORD's return for us is all but upon us. 'Then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh' (21:28)."

Call It A Dream - prophecy |
Bob Neumann @ Bob's Home Page ---- New Window |
3-6-2000 |
"Call it a dream if you like, it started out gentle and wondrous. Simply standing in meadow filled with clover and wild flowers. Probably a great place for sheep to munch. It was quiet, serene in fact. All the 'stuff' of the world just seamed to melt away as I just kept still and soaked in HIS PEACE. I was awaiting THE SHEPHERD because this certainly looked like prime grazing land." |

Charlotte Bronte- A Tribute -story |
Judith Bronte |
|
For many years, I have enjoyed the company of Charlotte
Bronte. Even though she died over a hundred years ago, her voice did not. Her voice can be heard in the poetry she wrote, and in the novels she penned. Among her novels, "Jane Eyre" is, by far, her most well known work. "Jane Eyre" has survived six movies, one of which was in Hindi, two made for TV movies, and one miniseries! The most recent version, and my personal favorite, was A & E's 1997 production, "Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre", Ciran (pronounced kee-ran) Hinds's portrayal of Mr. Rochester was very well acted, as was Samantha Morton's Jane Eyre. However, Charlotte Bronte's novel is more than just a good story. It is a morality lesson that people of all generations can learn from. In this age of "throw away marriages", Charlotte's words still echo from the past... |

Christian Baby Names |
Katie Stewart |
9-25-2001 |
"The purpose of this article is not to give a comprehensive list of names found in the Bible, but to encourage Christian parents to choose baby names that will nourish faith, both in them and in their children, because 'a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches' (Proverbs 22:1). Several 'good' baby names will be suggested here, in examples of a Bible study method which includes Biblical content (on why the LORD has called these Saints 'good'), and with Promises that are related to these Saints (Promises which can be claimed for your own children who are the namesakes of these Precious Saints). And there is great joy found in the heart of God when His children name their children with Godly intent. 'Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample' (Philippians 3:17). 'Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things' (Philippians 4:8)." |

Christian Knowledge - sermon |
Jonathan Edwards |
(1703-1758) |
HEBREWS 5:12 "For Then for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." THESE words are a complaint, which the apostle makes against the chrictian Hebrews, for their want of such proficiency in the knowledge of the doctrines and mysteries of religion, as might have been expected of them. |

"The Koran teaches the Muslim faithful to kill
idolatrous pagans, unless they repent and convert to Islam. 'When the sacred months
are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and
lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the
alms levy, allow them to go their way. God is forgiving and merciful' (Sura 9:5).
'The tender mercies of the wicked are cruel' (Proverbs 12:10). Cruel is the
word that best describes the Islamic application of such Koranic teachings, requiring
the slaying of idolatrous pagans. 'An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore
a cruel messenger [Hebrew, malak, i.e., angel] shall be sent against him' (Proverbs
17:11). The very idea of converting by the sword horrifies every true teaching of
Christ that demands fidelity to God with 'ALL thy heart... ALL thy soul, and ...
ALL thy mind' (Matthew 22:37) as True Religion, '6 not with eyeservice, as menpleasers;
but as the servants of Christ, doing the Will of God from the heart; 7 with good
will doing service, as to the LORD, and not to men' (Ephesians 6:6-7). The Christian
Scriptures, as opposed to the Koran, emphasize the necessity of an uncoerced heart
confession of Jesus Christ as Saviour and LORD, realizing that anything less is a
false profession of Christ, i.e., 'And why call ye Me, LORD, LORD, and do not the
things which I say?' (Luke 6:46). '9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
LORD Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead,
thou shalt be Saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto Righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation' (Romans 10:9-10)." Christ's Agony - sermon |
Jonathan Edwards |
(1703-1758) |
LUKE 22:44. "And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." OUR Lord Jesus Christ, in his original nature, was infinitely above all suffering, for he was "God over all, blessed for evermore;" but, when he became man, he was not only capable of suffering, but partook of that nature that is remarkably feeble and exposed to suffering. |

CLAVIS BIBLICA |
Dr. Adam Clarke |
(1762-1832) |
"All these books collectively, whether given to the Jewish or Christian church, are sometimes termed THE SCRIPTURES OF THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT; and generally through all Christian countries, and in almost all languages, The Bible from a Greek word Biblos, a BOOK, as being the only book that teaches the knowledge of the true God; the origin of the universe; the creation and fall of man; the commencement of the different nations of the earth; the confusion of languages; the foundation of the church of God; the abominable and destructive nature of idolatry and false worship; the divine scheme of redemption; the immortality of the soul; the doctrine of the invisible and spiritual world; a future judgment; and the final retribution of the wicked in the pains of eternal perdition, and of the good in the blessedness of an endless glory... a condensed synopsis, or general view of those principles, on which every Christian must found his faith, if he wish it not to stand in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God." |
|
Henry Alford |
(1810-1871) |
"While the first verse chiefly addresses the theme of thanksgiving, the last three verses deal with the theme of final harvest in the judgment of the world as paralleled in Christ's parables of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13:24-30) and the parable of the seed springing up without the sower knowing of it (Mark 4:26-29)."

"The Song of Solomon" has been one of the
most misunderstood books of the Bible. However, this has not always been the case.
In the days of the Reformation, and in times when persecution of Jesus Christ's Church
was the greatest, His Bride tenaciously clung to the love song He had given her.
It was one of the most memorized books of the Bible. But with the passing of time,
to our great shame, we have forgotten the meaning of this most precious book... In the short eight chapters of "The Song of Solomon", we find the close and intimate communion of the Royal Bridegroom, King Solomon, and his bride. The example of their complete unity and oneness of love is the same experience we should have with our Royal Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. It is my fervent desire that we now remember the love promise that Jesus has bestowed on us, and cling to Him as the Church did so long ago. |
