(1684-1759) Precious Bible Promises, Also known as Clarke's Scripture Promises. ---New Window
by Compiled by Samuel Clarke, D.D.
Compiled by Samuel Clarke more than 274 years ago, Precious Bible Promises is more than a sampling of the vows of a Loving God to fulfil the certainties of His Everlasting Word to a trusting soul, but it is a reference from which to begin to mine the unfathomable treasures of Christ-- in the times of calm before the promised storms. "For all the Promises of God in Him are Yea, and in Him Amen, unto the Glory of God by us" (2Corinthians 1:20).

9-11-05 My Doctrine Is Not Mine, Or, On the Importance of Maintaining Sound Doctrine ---New Window
by Tom Stewart
Doctrine is one of those words that often puts people on edge, as if they may be forced to mindlessly parrot things they do not understand, much less believe. However, "Good Doctrine" (Proverbs 4:2) is the teaching that God gives to us from His Word. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine [Greek, didaskalia, teaching, learning, instruction, precepts], for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2Timothy 3:16).

(1810-1871) "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come": Hymns As Poetry ---New Window
by Henry Alford
"While the first verse chiefly addresses the theme of thanksgiving, the last three verses deal with the theme of final harvest in the judgment of the world as paralleled in Christ's parables of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13:24-30) and the parable of the seed springing up without the sower knowing of it (Mark 4:26-29)."

6-19-05 How to Practice the Presence of Jesus ---New Window

6-12-05 Pollyanna, Rejoicing, and the Promises ---New Window
by Tom Stewart
Pollyanna is a book by Eleanor Porter, a movie by Walt Disney, and a label for those whose optimism overreaches the boundaries of the reality seen by others. You can see why 100-year-old Abraham-- with 90-year-old Sarah-- could have been labelled a Pollyanna for believing God's promise of a son, as well as becoming the Father of a Great Nation. "20 He staggered not at the Promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in Faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform" (Romans 4:20-21). Dare we be called a Pollyanna for our rejoicing optimism in the Promises of God?

04-28-05 What Are They Doing Now in Heaven?, Or, They Are Doing the Will of God in Heaven, Just as We Should on Earth ---New Window
by Tom Stewart
You will have the ability to sin in Heaven, but you won't sin. And, why not? Does the Almighty give us a Moral Lobotomy to take away our capacity of committing the sin that has been so easy here on Earth? No, Scripture tells us that our Moral Agency must remain intact in Heaven, or we, if we became Nonmoral Automatons or Robots, could not enjoy the beautiful holiness of Heaven, much less render to the Creator loving worship. Imagine, if the Devil could so entice the Saints on Earth to dwell in sin, how he would hope to discourage the Saints in Heaven and the Holy Angels, who are watching. He would be hoping against hope to re-ignite the flames of rebellion in Heaven to dethrone the Eternal One. Little does he understand or believe the wisdom and superiority of God's sovereign program in giving us moral likeness to the Living God. And, if God ordained Heaven's Moral Occupation to be only to Learn of Christ, then that alone would be enough for Heaven to have Full Employment! "Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29).

04-28-05 What the Bible Says About Angels ---New Window
by from The New Topical Textbook with additions

Are ministering Spirits.

"The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place" (Psalm 68:17).

"Who maketh His angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire" (Psalm 104:4).

"7 And of the angels He saith, Who maketh His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire. 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Hebrews 1:7, 14).

04-28-05 What the Bible Says About Heaven ---New Window
by from The New Topical Textbook

Heaven was created by God.

"In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth" (Genesis 1:1).

"And sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever, Who created Heaven, and the things that therein are, and the Earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer" (Revelation 10:6).

1-16-05 Asian Tsunamis of 2004 and Endtime Christianity ---New Window
by Tom Stewart
"What does God have to do to get our attention? This brings us to the events of December 26th 2004, where an undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 occurred in the Indian Ocean off the western coast of northern Sumatra and Indonesia, thus generating a series of tsunamis, whose massive, 50 foot (15 meter) high waves devastated Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and other coastal nations over the next seven hours, killing more than 150,000-- with a greater death toll feared for those missing never to be found and those who would become casualties of disease and starvation."

1937 Jonathan Goforth's Favorite Story ---New Window
by Rosalind Goforth
"While the Goforths were attending a summer conference, south of Chicago, it was announced that a 'brilliant speaker' was to come on a certain day for just one address. A very large expectant audience awaited him. The chairman introduced the speaker with such fulsome praise there seemed no room for the glory of God in what was to follow. The stranger had been sitting with bowed head and face hidden. As he stepped forward he stood a moment as if in prayer, then said..."

2004 Seven Reasons Why God Must Remove (Rapture) His People ---New Window
by Katie Stewart
"First, 'Except the LORD of Hosts had left unto us a very small Remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah' (Isaiah 1:9). Such a time as has never been before is coming, and cannot come until the Remnant be removed. The Restraining Influence of the Holy Spirit as felt through the saltiness of True Believers must be removed through a Pre-Tribulational Rapture, then the Seven Year Tribulation of Daniel's Seventieth Week can begin. 'For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He who now letteth [restrains] will let [restrain], until He [the Holy Spirit] be taken out of the way' (2Thessalonians 2:7)."

"8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an Open Door, and NO man can shut it:
for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My WORD, and hast not denied My Name.

10 Because thou hast kept the WORD of My patience, I also will keep thee
from The Hour Of Temptation
, which shall come upon all the world,
to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come quickly: HOLD THAT FAST which thou hast,
that NO MAN take thy crown.

13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches"
(Revelation 3:8,10-11,13).

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end"
(Hebrews 3:12-14).

"Deliver me in Thy righteousness, and cause me to Escape: incline Thine ear unto me, and save me"
(Psalm 71:2).
