What Is Salvation?
Or, A Brief Answer Offered to Those Who Truly Must Know

Jehovah Jesus Bible

by Tom Stewart

Your Sinful Circumstances

Only the Spirit of God would excite someone to ask this question. "For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:19). The question is appropriate-- for you, the questioner, share a problem common to mankind. "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way" (Isaiah 53:6). Your problem is not that you were born into this world in the wrong circumstances, but that you have withstood all of God's just and righteous demands on how to live your life, i.e., "Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself" (Luke 10:27). You have ignored the very Scriptures that were intended by the Living God as The Guide for Living Your Life, i.e., "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4), much as you treated an ordinary human book. Perhaps you may even know someone who has brought your lost condition to your attention, who has pleaded that "now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2Corinthians 6:2). Still, others may have prayed for you, that you would repent and "believe the Gospel" (Mark 1:15) before it was eternally too late. And, you have continued to resist until now you are afraid that it is too late to "flee from the wrath to come" (Matthew 3:7).

Jesus Christ is the Answer

If the thought that Jesus Christ is the complete answer to your problems sounds trite or an oversimplification, then you are wrong. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6). Would it not be reasonble for the Creator to make the most important things to sustain spiritual life in man, the most accessible? He has. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life" (John 3:16). Again, "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him [Jesus Christ] the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6). Instead of depositing this vital information in the vaults of some individual, business, government, or religious organization, He has freely revealed this through the manifestation of His Son. "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him" (1John 4:9). Even much of organized religion has forgotten or undervalued the significance that Jesus is the Answer to All of Life's Questions-- "And the very God of Peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the Coming of our LORD Jesus Christ" (1Thessalonians 5:23)-- that their everyday, sanctified Christian living has likewise evaporated. And instead, should we not spend our entire lives proving the completeness and sufficiency of Jesus Christ for every circumstance of our life? "30 But of Him are ye [and, only if you can number yourselves with those who repent and believe] in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the LORD" (1Corinthians 1:30-31).

Now, What Again is Salvation?

Salvation is:

It is Your Move

In these Last Days before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, we are told that "30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the Earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call" (Joel 2:30-32). Life is fleeting. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). Don't again waste your opportunity to repent. "10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same LORD over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved" (Romans 10:10-13).
